The Wales Ambassador Scheme currently covers 10 areas of Wales with the Eryri Ambassador being one of them. There are three levels to choice from Bronze, Silver and Gold and no matter which level you chose you will have learnt vital skills to enrich the visitor and local experience of Eryri.

To engage with the Scheme, you will first need to register (its free) you can do this by using this link – Ambassador Wales – Wales Ambassador Scheme. Once you have done that you can chose your area and start the course.

To complete the Bronze Level you will need to complete the three mandatory learning units all of which have lots of learning resources and complete the online test (pass mark 80%%).

The mandatory units are listed below.

  • Welcome to Eryri National Park
  • Sustainable Tourism
  • Yr Wyddfa

On successful completion of these units you will receive a printed certificate and digital bronze badge to show you have completed the award.

Once you have successfully completed these units, this opens up an additional 10 additional that you can choose from to complete the Silver and Gold Award these are listed below,

There was just so much that interested me here that I found it difficult to chose which topics to take. In the end I decided to do them all!

To complete the Silver Level you need to complete a further three modules and complete the online test for each module. On successful completion of these units you will receive a printed certificate and digital silver badge to show you have completed this level.

To complete the Gold Level you need to complete a further free modules and complete the online test. On successful completion of these units you will receive a printed certificate and digital silver badge to show you have completed this level. As an added bonus you will also receive some additional goodies in the form of a car sticker and a metal pin badge.

I found this to be an excellent course full of thought provoking information. I have to admit though, I struggled a bit with the ‘Inspiration of the Arts’ section but that was always going to be weak area for me.

If you work as an outdoor educator / trainer / volunteer then I would actively encourage you to register with the Ambassador Scheme you will learn lots and perhaps gain insights into the multi faceted ways that Eryri has impacted on its inhabitants and visitors. I’m really passionate and proud to be part of the scheme and I hope you will feel that way when you get involved too.
