This week at Arthog Outreach, I was leading canoeing and environmental education sessions and it was another cracking week.
This was the final week for Class 9 so we opted to pull together a few skills from previous sessions and to make popcorn. The young people scavenged to find the raw materials to light the fire, lit the fire and then with a little assistance made sugar coated popcorn which seemed a fitting way to end this block of sessions.
Canoeing at Simpsons Pool
Working with a Year 4 Class, it was great to be back canoeing again and a mighty fine session it turned out to be too. We started we rafted canoes with a staff member in each team to give a bit of guidance but after lunch the teams were jiggled about so that all the children were in rafts of their own and they took great delight in chasing the teaching staff around the pool to give them a good soaking (I like to call this stealth learning). There was lots of laugher / smiley faces and no one wanted to get off the water.
Lets hope for another fun one next week.
