During the half term break, I was working for my friends at Gateway Outdoors running bushcraft & kayaking sessions for an activity camp for a local school and mighty fine two days it was too
A change of craft for me today in that I was using sit on tops and I had forgotten how much fun can be had with this type of craft! After a quick session on the fundamental skills it was soon down to the serious business of stand up paddling, polo, nose dunking and of course ‘Shallow Al’ paddling.
Two very enjoyable sessions looking at the core bushcraft skills of shelter making, safe tool use, fire lighting and camp cooking. The young people really enjoyed the fire lighting and cooking / eating the bushcraft bread.
It was a lovely two days work and the young people really enjoyed the activity sessions – I know because they told me.
