Another Week Instructing For Arthog Outreach

Making maps

This week at Arthog Outreach, I have been leading a walk on the Wrekin and a caving session at Ogof Llanymynech and we all had an absolute blast.

Wrekin Walk

Working with a Year 1 group and using the theme of Katie Morag we went for an adventure up the Wrekin. We foraged for food,  lunch at the top and then made maps of our journey. This meant that we could use the maps to find our way back to the bus. On our descent, we even found a rope swing which was put to good use.

Working with a Year 3 / 4 group we explored the cave – into Entrance Chamber – through to Shaft Chamber – a crawl through to Fiveways Chamber and finished off with an instructor challenge to exit the cave.  This resulted in exceptional feedback from the group with some of the group declaring it was the best day ever.
