Mountain Walking in North Wales

Yr Wyddfa from Y Garn summit

Its hard to describe but I just feel so at home while walking in mountains of North Wales and I always enjoy my day out irrespective of the weather. Due to a break in work commitments, I found myself with a day to kill so I took the opportunity to spend some time walking on the Glyders. My route started from Ogwen Cottage and up to the Twll Du (Devils Kitchen) but instead of taking the direct path, I took the alternative route up the Sheep Walk (listed as Grade 1 scramble – Steve Ashton’s Book – Scrambling in Snowdonia) which brings you a little way up the slopes of Y Garn. From the summit of Y Gran (947m), I was rewarded with glorious views of Yr Wydffa (Snowdon) and the Carneddau. From here it was of to the summit of Elidir Fawr (924m) before returning to Ogwen Cottage via Cwm Perfedd. A great day out and  I look forward to many more to come over the quieter winter months.
