Mountain Leader Training at Yr Hafod (Weekend 1)

Checking Out The Route

My first introduction to the mountains was through the Scout Association and I’m happy to give a little back by helping at Scouts Wales activity centre Yr Hafod in North Wales and a few weekends ago,  I was staffing the first weekend of a Mountain Leader Training Course. Our Course Director was Michael Jones of Summit Mountain Skills.

The first day of the course was spent looking at the fundamental navigational skills on the Glyders, which also allowed us to look at various flora and fauna and set the scene for the rest of the weekend. Our second day, was looking at managing groups through steep mountainous terrain without the use of the rope.

It was a an excellent weekend and to see a few photographs from the course then please click here.
