Mountain Biking on the Long Mynd

Another wet and windy day out today but this time mountain biking with my friend and fellow outdoor instructor Martin Digby on the South Shropshire Hills.

Our route for the day started at Church Stretton and climbed quite steeply up Long Batch before connecting with the Shropshire Way. After the steep climb and very wet  conditions we were glad to join the hard surfaced track that took us along to Pole Bank which reaches a height of 516m. From here we descended to Pole Cottage to make used of a disused barn for a bite to eat and discuss the rest of the ride.

With deteriorating weather conditions we opted to descend to Little Stretton via Small Batch the end section of which was steep and muddy and caused a few moment s of thought before taking the brave decision to let the bike run and hope for the best. We both survived  and beaming like Cheshire cats we made our way back along the road to Church Stretton.

A quick change and it was off the find a cafe to finish off the trip with a cuppa and plan next weeks development day which is likely to be a canoe trip.
