I was asked by my friends at ProAdventure to provide a two day introduction to white water kayaking course.
The majority of the day, due to high river levels, was spent on the Llangollen Canal to ensure the fundamental skills were suitably polished (forwards, stopping, moving sideways and turning).
Thankfully, the water levels had dropped overnight and the day was spent on the River Dee at Llangollen looking at:
- Ferry gliding;
- Breaking in / out of the current;
- River hazards & leadership;
- Safety & rescue (defensive swimming & throwlines).
