Instructing For Arthog Outreach

Another lovely week working for Arthog Outreach where I was involved in environmental and team building sessions.

Shelter or witches hut

Environmental Education Sessions
A new class for the next four weeks so we opted for an outdoor session based on the different types of dwellings or shelters. The group looked at different types of dwellings and then had to guess who would use them, then the designed there perfect shelter before having a go at putting up a tarp and then embellishing it to sell it to the others. I think we might have a few used car salesmen in the making here!

OAA Session
As part of the Telford & Wrekin Sport initiative, we had 4 schools attend Arthog Outreach for an afternoon of fun and adventure. I was responsible for running the low ropes elements and I had almost as much fun as the young people. It was great to see them working together and encouraging each other to make their way around the course. A top afternoon in my opinion.

Team Building Sessions
This was to be the final week for my morning group and Friday mornings just won’t be the same without them! We went for a walk in the woods to look at a pond, squelching through the mud and sploshing in the puddles as we went. We stopped at the pond for some hot chocolate before heading back to the centre but not before we took a look at the new born lambs which was enjoyed by everyone.

With my afternoon group, we did some bushcaft skills in the form of fire lighting to toast marshmallows as a treat for completing their Heartstart Training. We then finished off the session with a few low ropes activities with much laughter all round.
