Another memorable week at Arthog Outreach delivering environmental, team building and first aid sessions.
Environmental Education Sessions
This week, as the group were learning about Kenya, we decided to have a go at making mud huts, which is a traditional dwelling or ‘Shamba’ in Kenya, I was really impressed by how well the young people got stuck into the activity and there were quite a few muddy hands by the end of the session. Next week, we’ll be finishing off the roof and we’ll have a wonderful display for the class room.
Team Building Sessions
For my morning group, we continued with the woodland exploration and walked headed off to a disused mine / cave in the woods. I had taken a few head torches so was able to light up the cave so that all but one of the young people went in for an explore. It was a particularly challenging session for some of the young people, with one or two falling asleep on the bus on the way back.
My afternoon group got stuck into some first aid training and again I was impressed by how well the group performed all the tasks asked of them. Hopefully, next week they will complete the syllabus for the British Heart Foundation – Heartstart Scheme.
A lovely week, and I’m already looking forward to the sessions next week.
