GNAS Success

At his time of year when things are a little less hectic, it’s good to get some personal development in and I decided to take an Archery GB – Sports Leader Award (GNAS) as I have developed an interest in learning how to shoot and make a traditional long bow.

The course was run at the Heatree Activity Centre on Dartmoor by Phillip Van Buren who is the author of the GNAS Training Manual and a GB Archery Senior Coach.  The course was run over 4 days and contained a mix of practical (personal shooting, coaching, fault diagnosis and maintenance) and theoretical (risk management, selection and matching of equipment, DFL and ESAR).

I had a great four days and the time just seemed to slip by which was much to do with Phillips enthusiasm for the course and vast wealth of experience. I’m pleased to say that I passed the Assessment and can now look forward to delivering Archery Sessions in the future.

If you are thinking of becoming an Archer Leader then I can certainly recommend a course provided by Phillip Van Buren. For more information about his courses then please click here.
