Last weekend, I was leading for my friends at Yr Hafod providing a fun weekend of walking and climbing for a group of Explorer Scouts from Hampshire. Despite a late arrival on Friday evening the group were up bright and early ready for a challenge.
The weather forecast for the day wasn’t too bad so we opted to go scrambling for the day and our chosen route was Seniors Ridge (including parts of the direct start) on Glyder Fawr. The scrambling was pleasant enough and the group soon got into the swing of things. Unfortunately, as we ascended the weather closed and the group were robbed of the summit views! After a quick bite to eat at the summit, we headed towards the Devil’s Kitchen to ascend to Cwm Idwal. We stopped at the beach at Llyn Idwal for a while passing the time by skimming stones before it was time to head off back to the hostel.
However, we still had time for one last challenge, which we have called the Idwal Squeeze and this was enjoyed by all despite the awkward nature of exiting from the squeeze.

On Sunday, with slightly better weather the group went climbing at the Capel Curig Pinnacle and a good time was had by all.
