D of E Expedition – Bronze Qualifying on the Long Mynd

Cooking the Evening Meal

Having just dried the kit from the Silver D of E Expedition on the River Wye (to see post please click here), it was time to repack my bags and head for the south Shropshire Hills to supervise and assess a a Bronze Qualifying expedition for Gateway Outdoor.

Day 1 – Norbury to Bridges
With good weather the teams made light work of the first day and arrived at the overnight campsite slightly ahead of schedule. I was particularly impressed on how well they set up camp and cooked their evening meal (the melted chocolate and digestives were a dream).

Day 2 –¬†Bridges to Little Stretton
With good weather the team made good progress to Pole Bank, which at 516m is not only the highest peak in the Long Mynd bu also the highest in Shropshire. From there it was all downhill (well mainly) to the finish at Little Stretton.

Another successful expedition and it was an easy decision to congratulate the team on there achievements.
