Today, I was climbing with my good friend and fellow outdoor instructor Matt Craig on the North East Face of Tryfan. Matt is busy preparing for his Mountaineering Instructor Award (MIA) and is very keen to get out on real rock to hone his skills.
We had planned to do the Route Arete Climb but instead opted for the route Gashed Crag as we thought that this would provide more shelter from the wind. I had not climbed on rock for some time and certainly not in big boots so progress was a little slow at the start but I soon found my rhythm and we all too soon topped on the south summit of Tryfan grinning like Cheshire Cats.
Matt, thanks for a great day out and I’m already looking forward to our next adventure.
