Climbing at Grinshill with Year 5

Climbing with ease - nicely done

Climbing with ease – nicely done

Last Thursday, I was working for Arthog Outreach taking a group of year 5’s climbing at Grinshill which is a sandstone outcrop just north of Shrewsbury and is a venue that I have come to know quite well

The group were a little nervous at first but after a spot of lunch a reinforcing the ‘Challenge by Choice’ ethos most attempted the climbs and surprised themselves by getting to the top! I was particularly impressed by their encouragement,  mutual support and teamwork when belaying and a genuine curiosity about the environment.

If you would like this type of activity for your school or youth group then please take a look at our main website to find out more by clicking here.
