In the last week of August, Chris Hughes Multi Activity Services joined forces with Tynant Outdoors to provide a canoeing session on the Llangollen Canal for the Shropshire Youth Service.
After meeting at the Sun Trevor car park we made the short walk to the canal to start the fun and excitement for the morning. A quick safety brief and it was time t put on the water to test out the new skills. As is to be expected some did better than others at the start but after a bit of input we were soon we were soon making very good progress. Along the way we took time to talk about the history of the canal and about the building of the aqueduct which we would later be paddling over. Some of the group were a little daunted by this prospect but once on the aqueduct the thrill and excitement took over and they were all grinning like Cheshire Cats once they had crossed. To finish the session off, we had a game of fruit salad and then it was time to get off the water for the return trip to Llangollen which was to be on a narrow boat and fitting way to end a great session.
