CHMAS – 2 Star Training & Assessment

Kayak journey – crossing the aqueduct

Earlier in August, I was asked to provide a 2 star training and assessment course for a local canoe club which is a pre requirement for those wishing to become a Level 1 Coach. Originally, I had three clients signed up but due to illness two pulled out but our policy at CHMAS is if we schedule a course then it runs.

The course was based on the Llangollen Canal and over the course of the two days we looked at paddling a canoe (solo and tandem) and the associated rescue skills and by the end of the day I had a very different paddler indeed. The second day was based in kayaks and we looked at the various skills and associated rescues as we made our way to the aqueduct at Froncysyllte  which just seemed a fitting way to end our course.

I had a great two days on the water and I’m pleased to say that Rob passed with ease and I would like to wish him every success as he gets his foot on the coaching ladder.
