Bushcraft For The Adventure Rope Course

On Friday, I was running an after school club bushcraft session for my friends at the Adventure Rope Course. This weeks session was about safe uses of fire and fire lighting. Most young people love lighting fires so there was quite a bit of excitement about this session. The group quickly collected the necessary materials, twigs the thickness of matchsticks, a pencil and your thumb along with some natural tinder.

The challenge had been set to keep your fire going for 15 minutes and the young people sat patiently while they tendered their fires. As a reward the group then toasted marshmallows as it always seems such a waste to light and fire and then not use it.

If you would like CHMAS to run this type of session as part of your afterschool club then please take a look at our bushcraft page by clicking here. We look forward to hearing from you.
