Brecon Activity Camp

I had an enjoyable four days working for my friends at Outposts running an activity camp for a private school in June. The activities on offer were canoeing, climbing, gorge walking, canyoneering and team tasks and unusually, I was involved in the deliery of all the activities which I was particularly pleased about.

Balance game on the canal

The first two days were spend on the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal, which was one of the first venues that I had my first kayaking experience. During the sessions we looked at the fundamental canoe skills, played lots of games and got a little bit wet with gunnel duelling.

On the third, it was climbing at Morlais Quarry and then canyoneering at Blaen y glyn in the Brecon Beacons, which despite the damp weather was really enjoyed by all.

The final day was team tasks, which was to build a catapult and fire an egg for distance and accuracy. Much time was spent building and fine tuning the devices and judging by the amount of laughter and smiley faces this activity was enjoyed by all.
