I can honestly say no two weeks are the same working for my friends at Arthog Outreach and this week was a very diverse week.
Team Building Sessions
I have been running team building sessions for Years 3 & 4 for some time now and I still find it fascinating what they feel the characteristics of a good and bad team are (right & left hand side of the board). A quick look at the Plan – Do – Review cycle and roles and responsibilities and then its in to the team tasks. Lots of praise and encouragement as they work through the activities brings huge rewards and they are a completely different group by the end of the session.
Climbing at Grinshill
Thankfully, a much warmer week this week with all the group attempting two climbs before heading off for a well earned lunch break. After lunch we headed off the summit to warm up and see the views.
Working with a Reception Class provides its own unique challenges such as simplistic language, selection of appropriate tasks and providing lots of praise and encouragement at the right time. The first group where a little problematic but after a ‘little chat’ the group soon got stuck into the activities and they really surprised me how well they completed the swamp crossing challenge. With a little modification for the afternoon session all went well and we even managed to complete the group juggling challenge.
