Another Brecon Activity Camp

Gunnel bobbing on the reservoir

At the beginning of July, I was working for my friends at Outposts delivering the canoe and team building elements. Much of my time was spent on the Pentwyn and Pontsticill Reservoirs. Unfortunately, the weather goods were less then kind to us and it was a real challenge to provide fun and stimulating sessions in the wet and windy conditions.

However, on the third day the sun shone and we were treated to some great views of of Pen Y Fan and Corn Du mountain peaks as we made the best of the weather and went exploring. Along the way like we looked at the fundamental canoe skills and played a several canoe games before ending the session with a gunnel duelling which was enjoyed by all.

My last day of this programme was team challenges and it never ceases to amaze me how groups seem to emerge themselves in these activities, particularly if points and hence prizes are at stake! Just wondering how this could be brought into other activities and whether it would work as well.
