Activity Camp at Crickhowell

Shelter making - nice one

Shelter making – nice one

Last week, I was working for my friends at Class Adventure on my final activity camp due before the site is dismantled for the end of the season. I’ve had a fantastic summer working in Crickhowell and working with some excellent young people and teaching staff and hoped this course would be equally as good.

Over the three day programme, the group were engaged in:

  • Personal development and team building:
  • Adventure trekking with an overnight stay at a remote campsite;
  • Elementary bushcraft skills (shelter building);
  • Kayaking: and
  • Climbing & abseiling.

The weather was quite hot and the most popular activity was kayaking where the group learnt a few basic skills and then it was soon time for a ‘wet games’ and an impromptu water fight which resulted in me getting very wet! Happy days indeed! I particularly enjoyed the bushcraft session and the shelters made by the group were quite impressive given the timescale to construct them. It was also great to see them all working as a team to get the shelters made.
