First Aid Training – primary survey taking place

The new term has started and I’m back working with Al & Martin at Arthog Outreach and its been a mix of jobs and activity instruction.

REC Level 2 Emergency First Aid Course
As I’m a REC First Aid Trainer, I was delighted to run a Level 2 Emergency First Aid Course for Arthog and a mighty fin first day we had too. There was lots of laughter and discussion and I’m really looking forward to working with the group next week for Day 2.

Up The Wrekin
On Friday, I led a team of Year 5’s  from Shortwood School up the Wrekin as the class where looking at the Iron Age and the Romans. The group really liked the ascent as we broke through the trees and we where greeted with a splendid view of the countryside. We had lunch at the top and discussed what it might have been like to live at the hill fort before taking a descending taking the time sample black berries and bilberries on the way. We also found a rope swing on the way down so we just had to test it out which created much amusement and laughter as everyone (including the staff had a go).

The final part of the day was to visit the Roman village at Wroxeter which lies in the shadow of the Wrekin and discuss the differences between the two environments.

A lovely first week back and I’m really looking forward to next week’s activities.
