On the weekend, I was at the Beacon Climbing Centre in North Wales on a MTA workshop Climbing For All delivered by Graeme Hill and an excellent workshop it was too. The morning was spent looking at the myths and beliefs about clients who require additional support, providing an effective session and communication with the climbers. A very useful and thought provoking session.
The afternoon was spent looking at providing additional support mechanisms for climbers (group based support, climbing alongside – self belaying and hoisting systems). Then we moved on how to set up wheelchair abseiling and how best to manage the experience.
A really useful course, excellently delivered by Graeme and if you work with climbers who require additional support then this is the course for you. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
