Another Week At Arthog Outreach

Canoe action

It’s always fun working at Arthog Outreach and this week was no exception!

Environmental Sessions
This week, I was back with Class 10 on a new four week block looking at the Anglo Saxons and after a little thought, I came up with a plan to do plant identification by use (medicine, eating & poisonous) as the Anglo Saxons would need to forage for plants to eat and to make them better. This was then followed up by a quiz to see how much they remembered and I was very impressed by how much they remembered. To finish off the session we looked at nature inspired shield designs.

Canoeing At Simpsons Pool
A double session of canoeing at Simpsons Pool in the glorious sunshine what’s not to like! Working with two year 4 groups we made rafted canoes and played lots of games to instil confidence and to provide instruction on the fundamental canoe skills.

After lunch, we jiggled the teams around and the young people took great delight in chasing the teaching staff around the pool to give them a good soaking!
