CHMAS – Navigation Training

Checking out the view

A little while back CHMAS was asked to provide some 1 to 1 navigation training for a student preparing for their DofE expedition. After chatting with the client about their key objectives, CHMAS developed a bespoke programme that included the following:

a) Personal equipment;
b) Map familiarisation and route planning;
c) Fundamental navigational skills for the hill (setting the map, tick features, timing etc.);
d) What to do in an emergency; and
e) Navigational strategies to keep on track.

It was a lovely day and the client left smiling and brimming with confidence with their new skills so a job well done in my opinion.

If you would like CHMAS to provide this type of course for you then please take a look at our hill walking page for more information.
