Another good week working for Arthog Outreach where I was leading environmental, canoeing and team building sessions.
As a continuation of the ‘Theatre Theme, we ventured outdoors and the teams were tasked with finding certain natural items. Once they had collected these, they were asked to think of a cartoon character, TV personality etc. and then make a representation of this from the materials they had collected.
Canoeing At Simpsons Pool
A lovely group for the canoeing session at Simpsons pool who picked up things very quickly. We played lots of games to reinforce the skills (stealth learning) and there was lots of laughter and smiley faces as the session progressed. No one wanted the session to finish so a job well done in my opinion.
Team Building Sessions
For my morning group we continued with the climbing theme, encouraging the young ones to put on the safety equipment and to better their effort last week. All impressed with their team working and effort they put into their climbing.
My afternoon group, continued with their John Muir Award and ventured deeper into the woods with the group leading the way to find a well. All tasted the water from the well and then they set about firing up the Kelly Kettles to boil the water from the well to make hot chocolate. Both teams successfully completed the challenge and were rewarded by hot chocolate and chocolate biscuits for dunking, which seemed a fitting end to my time with this group. All that remains to be done now is send off for their John Muir Award certificates.
