Last week, CHMAS was running a three star canoe / kayak touring training course for a group of instructors from Condover Hall. Our venue for the day was the River Severn in Shrewsbury and we had a lovely morning in the sunshine looking at the fundamental strokes and I’m pleased to say that by the end of the session these strokes were looking very polished indeed.
In the afternoon to put the new skills to the test, we went on a short journey between Frankwell and Shrewsbury Weir. Some of the keener candidates wanted to try out a few rescues and it wasn’t long before all the group got stuck in. Eventually, all good things must come to an end and we arrived at Shrewsbury Weir. There was much banter and laughter as we got the bots off the water and discussed various options for the assessment the following week.
