Winter Canoeing on the Llangollen Canal

Winter canoeing - Snowball fight anyone?

Winter canoeing – Snowball fight anyone?

On Saturday, I was working for my friends at Ty Nant Outdoor providing a canoe session on the Llangollen Canal for a stag group. With the wintry weather firmly in place, this was going to have to be an exceptional session to keep everyone warm and motivated.

As is normal, the stag group failed to  turn up on time and some of the group members got lost on route to the start venue (less than 2 miles from their accommodation). However, when they arrived we quickly got them kitted up and on the water. The group quickly picked up how to ‘drive’ the canoe and it didn’t take much prompting before a series of snowball fights broke out much to the amusement of passers by on the canal.

A small group of paddlers made a dash for the night bridge and positioned themselves on the bridge armed with snowballs to ambush the rest of the group, which was entertaining to watch from a safe distance . To see the video of this escapade then please click here.

I had a thoroughly good morning and judging from the feedback from the group so did they and I hope they all manged to get home safely on the Sunday.
